First Snow...

It's been so warm that snow hasn't even been on my mind.  I haven't looked at the weather much at all lately, which was a HUGE surprise to Brad since I am usually weather obsessed.   I have about 5 weather apps on my phone and my kids are also HUGE into checking the weather.

So I was slightly surprised to find it snowing on my way to an appointment this morning, but figured it would stop, which it did for awhile.  At lunch it started again and I thought it was pretty with giant flakes so I took a couple pictures.

About 12:15pm..

But it kept coming down and the flakes were getting bigger. I decided that it might be a good day to dig out the snow gear and see if we need anything.  Nothing like waiting until their is accumulating snow on the ground to make sure all the children have essentials like jackets, hats, boots would be really good.  Fortunately I've got it down to 3 bins...boots, hats/mittens, and then jackets and snow pants.  Thankfully everyone could wear their boots from last year and we have enough of everything!!!  It's an early Christmas miracle.

Well, seeing the snow gear meant one thing....the kids MUST play outside.  Everyone headed out.  By 3pm this is what we had...

Notice she has no snow pants on?  I told her she could go out without them, thinking they were only going to be out for a little while.  Nope...2 hours of fun in the snow. It was pitch black by the time they came in.  Ooops.  She didn't seem to care though.

It was great snow for making snowballs. Slightly icy as Rosalia found out when getting hit in the face.

It was definitely beautiful

Of course, it's been so warm, there are still tons of leaves on trees and on the ground. I told Brad that if they kids make enough snowballs and leave them to melt in one place, he won't need to rake.  LOL  (I'll need to find the picture of the leafy snowballs and share it later).

Matthias seemed to have gotten side tracked by a good book. I had to laugh as I walked into his room to see him like this..

He eventually went out and joined neighbor kids in a snowball fight. The kids stayed out until well past dark. I could no longer see them, but could hear them. I enjoyed some quiet time looking through a magazine and enjoying wine.

Beatrice came in cold and snowy.  Her fingers were red and she wasn't happy.  Until she brushed her teeth.  LOL
