Every night we sit down as a family and says prayers. We start with a reading from scripture and then move on to intercessory prayers, starting with Brad and moving down to the youngest. Well, Brad and I have had a secret for a few weeks now, one that we decided to share tonight with the boys during prayers. Let me tell you....it was fun to see it all unfold. During prayers tonight, as is typical for us each night, Brad says, "We pray for all those moms we know who are pregnant, especially Auntie Beth and Mommy!!!!" (In the fall we had a full list of about 9 moms to pray for and now we're down to two)
No one says anything, everyone just sits there; I'm watching and scanning the kids in their various spots to see if they picked up on what Brad said. Then it's my turn and I say nothing further about what Brad said and figure we'll discuss it after prayers. Then Grant starts to giggle as it becomes his turn and the first thing he says is,"Thank you Mom is pregnant!" His grin is huge and you can tell that he can hardly contain his excitement, then everyone picks up on it. First Parker and you can see him looking at Brad and I to see if we are in agreement with what Grant just prayed. Then he smiles and his mouth hangs open before he starts laughing. Then Matthias gets it and he says, "You are funny to tell us during prayers, I can't believe you!!!"
Let's just say there was a lot of laughing and giggling going on and I'm not really sure how we made it through. Everyone was so thankful for mommy being pregnant and a new baby. After prayers I was joyously hugged by everyone of the kids and there were still lots of "Are you joking?" "Are you sure?" All with the reassurance that we are sure and are definitely not joking.
I love that they are so excited and happy. None of them stopped smiling all night as they talked about whether they want a sister (especially for Veronica, Parker tells me) or a brother (Augustin really wants a brother) or twins. The general consensus is that boy/girl twins would be ideal. A sister for Veronica, but another brother for everyone. I think this was the most fun announcement we've made and there is nothing better than seeing and experiencing how joyful and excited the kids are at the gift of another sibling.
Congratulations! You and your family rock!
