Happy Birthday Augustin

Augustin's birthday was a busy day around the house.  The new kitchen flooring started to go in, which meant Grant, Dad and Parker spent the day laying flooring.

By the end of the day almost all of the flooring way laid and the kitchen felt better than it had in weeks.  Augustin really wanted beans and rice (with hummus) for dinner; his two favorite foods, but the stove wasn't working yet so we ordered Chinese food.  Super easy for me, but we're having beans and rice and hummus for dinner tonight.

The kitchen remodel didn't stop presents from being given.  Matthias got him a small kite, outdoor chalk for the driveway and a small lantern since Augustin loves lanterns and flash-lights.

Parker got him an activity book with mazes and puzzles, which is another favorite activity.  He can spend hours doing mazes.

And Grant and Samuel got him a "fanner".  He sees these personal fans that light up and have candy in them (he didn't know about the candy ahead of time) any time I take him to the store and he always wants me to buy him one.  So it made the perfect gift and I think it was probably his favorite.

Of course we sang him "Happy Birthday".  You can see how tall Grant is getting in this picture; people comment all the time to him about his height.  He's just under 6 feet now and definitely the "Big brother" and Augustin just loves him, especially since he can still pick him up and flip him around.

We had cupcakes for desert.  I made Augustin the rainbow cupcakes he asked for and he loved them.  They weren't as hard as I thought they would be and were very tasty.

Singing Happy Birthday...again

One last picture of my birthday boy....It really is hard to believe he's 5 already.  He really is a joyful child and brings so much happiness to the family.  I can't imagine life without my cuddly, smiling, twinkling eyed guy.  Always the first to offer to help me, the first to climb into my lap, to give a hug.  I can only imagine what this coming year holds for him.
